YIMBY Hobart – Branding, Website Design, and Content Strategy
As a founding member and lead designer/content strategist for YIMBY Hobart, I led the creation of the organisation’s visual identity, website design, and content strategy to ensure clear, engaging, and accessible communication for a broad audience. YIMBY, which stands for Yes In My BackYard, advocates for sustainable housing growth in nipaluna/Hobart by promoting policies that support density and inclusive development. This project involved developing a cohesive brand system that aligned with these advocacy goals.
Using Wix Studio, I designed and built a responsive, user-focused website that provided a clean, direct overview of YIMBY Hobart’s values, policies, and goals. I optimised the layout for clarity and accessibility, ensuring the content was easy to navigate and understand for a diverse audience, including policy makers, planning experts, media, and the general public. The site features well-structured text blocks, engaging images, and strategically placed CTAs to encourage interaction and community engagement.
To further support the organisation’s mission, I developed a comprehensive content strategy that aligned the tone and positioning with YIMBY Hobart’s advocacy goals. I wrote concise, jargon-free website content, including slogans, introductory text, and calls-to-action that clearly communicate YIMBY Hobart’s purpose. The language was crafted to be accessible, friendly, and solutions-oriented, ensuring maximum reach and engagement across different demographics.
I also designed multiple logo concepts that captured Hobart’s unique landscape and urban identity, referencing the Organ Pipes of kunanyi/Mt Wellington while symbolising upward growth and density done well. Through iterative refinement, I delivered a final logo system with primary and inverted versions, paired with a carefully selected colour palette and typography to maintain consistency across platforms.
